Kalaa Manjari was founded by Mrs. Jayashree Chinne Narayanan, wife of Mimicry Superstar Kalaimamani Chinni Jayanth. Over the years the centre has been honoured by visits from celebrated artists, sportspeople and dignitaries — and welcomed children from well-known families into its classrooms.

Recognition of Kalaa Manjari's Global Art centre for Alwarpet for sustained excellence and results.
Held at Chennai Trade Centre on 9 Nov 2013 with 1300+ participants nationwide. P.S. Ashvitha (D.A.V. Girls, Gopalapuram) won the Champions trophy in Group A (5–7 yrs) for "My Favorite Holiday"; Harihar Prashad (D.A.V. Boys, Gopalapuram) won the Champions trophy in Group D (13+ yrs) for his Onam artwork.
An open competition (27 Feb 2013) for non-Global-Art children, with enthusiastic participation. Four specially-abled children from St Louis School for the Deaf took part and won prizes. Prizes were given away by Mrs. Aishwarya Dhanush.
Kalaa Manjari conducts chess tournaments for sub-junior, junior and senior categories every 26 January and 15 August.
